This exquisite game board is a masterful fusion of two classic games—backgammon and chess—crafted to offer both functionality and artistic brilliance.

On one side, the board is tailored for backgammon play. It features two detailed miniature paintings: a vibrant party scene on one end, and a dynamic polo match on the other. The opposing side serves as a chessboard, designed with the utmost elegance and craftsmanship.

The chessboard is entirely made of Khatam, a traditional Persian marquetry technique using an intricate combination of metal, wood, and bone. Each square is framed with delicate wooden borders, enhancing the board’s visual rhythm and structure. Surrounding the board are magnificent hand-painted scenes of the same party and polo themes, adding depth and storytelling to the piece. Notably, the edges of the chessboard are not straight; instead, they flow with graceful curves formed by meticulously placed white and brown wooden pieces, showcasing a high level of artistic sophistication.

The walls and piece-holding compartments on all four sides are also adorned with intricate Khatam inlay, precisely assembled by skilled artisans. The upper white edge of the backgammon board is crafted from natural oyster shell, embellished with delicate brown painted motifs, creating a luxurious and harmonious contrast.
