Luxury Handcrafted Persian Game Board
This luxurious dual-sided game board is a true masterpiece of Persian craftsmanship, offering a premium experience with backgammon on one side and chess on the other.
Backgammon Side
When fully opened, the backgammon board showcases a butterfly-inspired design, framed with the finest Khatam Kari (Persian marquetry). At its center, two hexagonal Khatam inlays feature hand-painted gilded motifs, crafted with vivid colors and intricate, magical patterns.
The seating area for game pieces and the four surrounding walls are richly adorned with Khatam, made from delicately combined wood, metal, and bone, arranged with geometric precision by skilled artisans. The white surfaces of the backgammon field are formed from natural oyster powder, decorated with elegant patterns.
The top edge includes an oyster inlay, enhanced with gilded designs in each corner and center, while black spiral motifs elegantly connect these highlights. The outer edge is meticulously crafted with alternating white and brown wooden pieces, adding a refined touch of sophistication.
Chess Side
On the chess side, the squares alternate between Khatam marquetry and oyster, each framed by slender wooden borders for enhanced contrast and elegance. Surrounding the board, the artisan’s mastery of Persian gilding art (Tazhib) is displayed in vibrant gold, green, blue, and other rich colors.
